Ascension Circle: Mage by Rungok Ascension Circle: Mage by Rungok
A magic Circle I designed using photoshop.

This is geared to Mage: The Ascension, using the concepts of spheres of magic, the general schools of things a mage can manipulate. This Circle takes the esoteric spheres which rule us, (fate, time, and distances) and brings them into that which makes us (matter, life, forces) and draws from within that which defines us (spirit, mind, and our pattern)

The circle is supposed to draw the mage's awareness to the tenth sphere, ascension. They never really say WHAT happens at that point, just that it's what everyone wants.

This is really, really cool. :)
I will be using it in my upcoming M20 campaign.

One very little tiny bit of critique, though: The Prime Sphere symbol that's underlaid under every other sphere. Am I right to assume that you used this symbol as the "test symbol" for layout and then forgot to take it out once the layers were flattened? Because I think that it would look just that bit better if they other sphere symbols would stand on their own.

Actually I used the prime sphere as a sustaining connection to all other magics. Otherwise they'd not 'blend' the way they were needed to.

I had to make an account just to comment on this: this is AMAZING!

I have found your art while searching for images of the spheres symbols to show to a friend of mine, for I am looking forward to tattoo it. This is a NICE composition, awesome indeed, but I wouldn't like to have those elvish phrases lol. But you certainly gave me an idea! Ah, by the way, I am not tattoing it, not without your permision/payment anyway. Thank you for this and congratulations!

P.S. forgive me for any misspelling or bad phrases, I am from Brazil and I am not used to write in english hehe

If you want to tattoo it, by all means go ahead!

I'm jazzed someone would consider it for tattooing!

Yeah Just replace the elven phrases with whatever you want. It basically says "Drawing the outer spheres down through the middle spheres in order to master the inner spheres."

very nice, wish i could play mages though.. everything else in the world of darkness is ok but mages: "well i don't know.. they're just too OP" pffft...

Theres mechanisms for balance but the wording is such that it can be interpreted to make them OP.

yeah i realize that they can wield awesome and terrible powers, but that's for the higher levels, like lvl 4-5 at which point the mage is hunted from all sides and by all parties or realizes he/she is basically a god, gets bored and leaves earth (i know u know all this, but i'm just trying to put everything in one place). The only problem imo is that people stereotype mages and do not wish to accept the fact that they are above all for expressing creativity and not power play, unlike lets say warewolfs who can have 8-9 strength and have damage roll polls of like 20 with very little effort

Truth. Mages are only Really OP in the hands of a creative player than a normal one.

That said, I don't get to play mages anymore.

I think I recognize some of this as alchemy script or versions of them anyway. So what were your sources or inspiration for this?

It's actually elven I think. Tolkien. Most of the inspiration was that I had a mage who used circles as his focus in Mage: the Awakening. I wanted to design a penultimate focus circle.

Oh I see...yes I have noticed a distinct similarity between Tolkien's runes and Alchemy script, but he drew a great deal from actual history and folklore so it's understandable ^_^

Great circle! So you have the hermetic blood on you don't ya? But what about the elven sayings? Do they mean something in the way of ascension or it's just nice? I'm to lazy to translate any elvish signs today.

Did you also see the flintlock I made? It has some spheres enchanted into it. Like entropy on the flashpan to prevent misfires, and correspondence on the barrel to 'skip' the bullet past walls and cover. Prime provides the power needed to fire it, and forces makes the magic 'bullet' that is shot.

... It's a heinous gun.

Yeah, he got a buncha paradox one time he fired it THROUGH the center of a tour bus full of old people to hit another mage taking cover behind it.

But it all worked out.

HOLY (#@!
This is amazingly well designed! The detail is perfectly aligned with symbolic representations of the aracanic abjurations found in the lesser key of Solomon as well as the major! It's so neatly done too!
Well done, I'll look to you if I need a magic circle for a project from now on. ;)

A geometric master of abjuration worthy of Solomon's knowing, I salute your perfectionism.

P.S: Your a man, right? I just need to make sure for the art piece (no offense if wrong or for questioning!...please.)

No worries! I am a guy, Thanks for asking.
It's easy for people to get confused when just looking at someone's writing alone. I tend to avoid generally saying, because I'd rather people look at my thoughts and not my gender.
